Playing away
One of the most popular city break destinations is Paris, which you can get to via Euro Star train and even pop to Disneyland Paris while you’re there. Other top destinations include Rome, with its hot climate and extensive history; or if you love graffiti and enjoy an eclectic mix of underground music with clubs that stay open until the very early hours, Germany’s capital Berlin is guaranteed to surprise you at every turn. Maybe even brush up on your cultural knowledge and impress your tutors by checking out the Berlin Wall and Germany’s communist political history. Other cities like Prague and Budapest are full of fellow students who flock there for its traditional architecture and wacky nightclubs with vintage baths made into cool seating and working machines hanging from the ceilings. Go shopping in their artist quarters and bask in the romance of one of the best city escapes.
English fun
For a chilled out weekend break in England, try a few days surfing in Cornwall or Bournemouth and save money by checking out alternative methods of travel like coach, train or ferry. The UK has a variety of theme parks and national parks and London is full to the brim with activities to keep you busy for a few days away from your studies. Our top tip: Amsterdam is renowned for its relaxed laws on cannabis (still a big draw for a lot of you out there) but rarely spoken about for its cleanliness and charming canals. Let’s not forget that it’s also Carlsberg’s home city and great if nights out drinking in between noodle bar stop-offs is what you want from your weekend away.
